SuperDaisy in Hospital

“It is tricky to get the balance between the reality of the situation and making it a fun story to empower our patients. We loved SuperDaisy, a lot of our patients would benefit from this kind of resource.”

- Health and Play Specialists - Great Ormond Street Hospital

Zoe Waring includes identifiable elements of the oncology ward in her sensitive illustrations.

Zoe’s illustrations help children with cancer to identify with the story and recognise their experience being represented.

They also enable children without any experience of childhood cancer to develop a better understanding of the hospital setting and treatment, opening up the possibility of discussion around items such as Daisy’s chemotherapy portal and the bell.

HarperCollins have kindly donated copies of SuperDaisy to “Read for Good”, a charity that provides mobile libraries for children in hospitals nationwide, and are working with charities and hospitals to support the delivery of SuperDaisy to children diagnosed with cancer.
